IPL 2020 Live: Delhi Capitals vs Kings XI Punjab Live Match & Preview

DC take on KXIP in Match 2 of Dream11 IPL 2020. Here's all you need to know about the match.

Delhi Capitals will take on Kings XI Punjab in the second match of IPL 2020 at the Dubai International Stadium in Dubai on Sunday. Here is all you need to know about the game.

After a cracking opening game between Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians in Abu Dhabi on Saturday, Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) take on Delhi Capitals in the second game of the tournament at the Dubai International Stadium on Sunday. Both teams are yet to win their maiden IPL trophy and would be looking to get off to a winning start in the new season.

While Shreyas Iyer will continue to captain the Delhi Capitals after leading them to the playoffs last season, KL Rahul will make his debut as captain for KXIP. Rahul was appointed as the captain of the franchise ahead of the new season after former skipper and veteran spinner R Ashwin was traded to Delhi Capitals. Ashwin will also have a point to prove against his former side in the much-awaited contest where two young Indian captains will go head to head.

Delhi Capitals have a strong core of Indian batsmen in the form of Iyer, Shikhar Dhawan, Prithvi Shaw and Rishabh Pant along with the latest addition of the experienced Ajinkya Rahane. In Shimron Hetmyer, they have an explosive batsman who can fire from the word go. Marcus Stoinis or Keemo Paul can be included in the side as an all-rounder with Kagiso Rabada and Sandeep Lamichhane taking the overseas spot in the bowling department.

Kings XI Punjab’s top-order is also loaded with firepower. Rahul is likely to open the batting with Chris Gayle with the likes of Glenn Maxwell and Nicholas Pooran to follow. It will be difficult for KXIP to pick their 4 overseas players as they face a problem of plenty with the likes of Maxwell, Gayle, Pooran, James Neesham, Sheldon Cottrell, Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Chris Jordan all in contention.

Gayle might be left out of the playing XI if KXIP decide to go with both Pooran and Maxwell in the top-order along with two overseas bowlers or an all-rounder and a bowler. Mujeeb has been one of the leading wicket-takers for KXIP ever since joining the side and is expected to retain his spot. Mohammed Shami will be leading the pace attack with young Ravi Bishnoi joining Mujeeb in the spin department.
